Veteran Support
Veteran Support
We seek to support veterans in many ways by providing a mentorship programme.
The training that they receive gives them not only the skills to work within a construction environment through Building Heroes, but also taking in to consideration their experiences whilst on Operational Tours and the physical and mental injuries they may have sustained and therefore our partners, The Veterans Retreat Club, provide the fundamental tools for our service men and women to cope with life on the outside.
The career progression is similar to the military training pipeline and their careers are managed with mid period appraisals (MPAR), Annual Reports (ARs) and objectives to achieve, such as Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and goal setting.
We expect our veterans to grow whilst they are under our wing so that they can fly the nest when they are ready and set up on their own with business start up training. But it doesn’t end there, we are there for eternity for whenever they need us. They will gain skills through on the job training as well as undertaking Senior Apprenticeships and attend CITB supervisor and management in construction site safety training courses (SSSTS & SMSTS).
We hope that our veterans remain with us for a period and become mentors themselves, but if they do go it alone, we hope that they will take on others who have been through the programme and grow their business with mentees from the veteran community.
We hope to extend our workforce opportunities to family members and also the retreats, as we well know that it isn’t just the service person who suffers when suffering, so it is important that we give partners and their children support too.
